Three researchers of the Universidad Juarez del Estado de Durango received theState Award of Science and Technology 2010, upon their respective projects being approved, and in addition, 41 candidate researchers from the level one and two  of the National System of Researchers (SNI) enrollment, were accredited with a scroll  which was presented by the state governor, C. P. Jorge Herrera Caldera, in recognition of their research work, as they have a significant impact on the solution of the problems of the entity.

In the framework of the report of activities surrendered by Dr. Jose Dimas Lopez Martinez, director general of the Council on Science and Technology of the State of Durango who was as special guest of the Rector of the Universidad Juarez, Lic. Luis Thomas Castro Hidalgo; Dr. Alberto Terrones Gonzalez and the M.C. Sergio Estrada Martinez, both of the Institute of Scientific Research, received the award in the area of Social Sciences, and from the School of Dentistry Dr. Alfredo Nevárez Rascón.

This delivery recognizes that the scientific research to be carried out in Durango, in more than 50 percent, is in charge of teacher-researchers of the UJED, since of the 92 which are enrolled in SNI, 41 belong to schools, colleges and institutes of the Maximum Study House in Durango, both from the capital city as of Gomez Palacio, and the rest rests with other institutions of higher education.

At  the same time, the rector Luis Tomas Castro Hidalgo recognized the great investigative work that is carried out in the academic units and institutes of the UJED, and said that there are resources of around 40 million pesos that were allocated to research and other academic activities.

It won´t be until next year when the presentation of the research projects are made, which will be derived from an Institutional Development Plan, which is in the process of drafting by the strategic areas of the Universidad Juarez,he  explained.

"It is a Development Plan that will give direction to the activities to be developed in the UJED during this six year administration, the support for the investigation will be provided according to the projects submitted by the researchers of the academic units and institutes, according to the feasibility and quality of the same," he added.

Castro Hidalgo assured that the strengthening programs have greatly allowed  the growth of the investigation in the Maximum Study House, as well as the fact that researchers can participate in congresses, have the necessary equipment in laboratories.  In a few words,  a significant growth to enable them to present quality work.

He said that a commission will be assigned for the evaluation of the scientific research projects, because the Universidad Juarez has had a prominent role, since they always present outstanding projects that contribute to the solving of the problems of the entity, most of whom are oriented to the support of society.
